Prevent Pollution
Stormwater Runoff
Stormwater runoff is flow from rain or snowmelt that does not percolate into the ground. As it flows over paved, dirt, and landscaped surfaces, it can pick up debris, chemicals, soil and other pollutants. Stormwater then flows untreated into the nearest creek or lake.
Runoff from the built environment is unavoidable. However, we can work to reduce the pollutants entering our waterways. By making careful choices in our homes and businesses, we can keep our creeks, lakes, and communities healthy.
